CERTIFICATE COURSES

Spoken Hindi:

It is a certificate course of 3 months duration run by the college, under the supervision of Add-On Course Committee. Any 10th pass student is eligible to join the course.Being an isolated district of the country, people do not have opportunities interact with non- Khasis speakers in Hindi. More than 80% of students come from schools with no Hindi subject. Whenever students are go on study tours and exposure trips to the other parts of India, they find it difficult to interact with others in a common language. The Central Governmentis now trying hard to popularize this language keeping in view the provisions of a national language as enshrined in the Constitution of India. Working in different environments in future would be an obstacle if the students are not familiarized in this language and so the need for teaching spoken Hindi is urgently felt.

English Spoken: 

It is a certificate course of 3 months duration runs by the college, under the care of Add-On Course Committee. Any 10th pass student is eligible to join the course. Most schools in South West Khasi Hills District and its neighbouringdistricts, from where the College draws its students are facing lots of problems. Most of these schools even at the Secondary Level are not promoting English as the medium of instruction in their school, though English is the main subject right from primary stage. Teachers mainly stress on writing completely neglecting the spoken part.Spoken English is very essential for communication and job interviews. Hence the need for opening Spoken English as a course is strongly felt by the College for the long term benefit of the students. Curriculum for these courses has been designed by the College for the best interest of the students.

Khasi Traditional Music:

It is a certificate course of 6 months duration run by the college, under the care of Add-On Course Committee. Any 10th pass student is eligible to join the course. The College is situated in the rural area where people are deeply rooted to cultural traditions whether it is folk songs and folktales. Being tribals, students too are oriented in their own tribal identity and uniqueness which takes shape into art forms. Therefore, introduction of Khasi Traditional Music as a course will inculcate in the students the love and appreciation of their own music and musical instruments.

Diploma in Computer:

 It is a certificate course of 6 months duration run by the college, under the care of Add-On Course Committee. Any 12th pass student is eligible to join the course.Most students of the College are computer illiterates. Being in such condition isquite crippling for them in learning things in this modern age. Using internet as the learning resource, writing assignments and paper presentations is a hurdle for the students and hence, Computer Course is introduced.
